    Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University (Akhmet Yassawi University) was established in 1991 through the personal initiative of Head of State N.A. Nazarbayev. The university is based on the Intergovernmental Agreement between Kazakhstan and Turkey, with the aim to train highly skilled specialists from young Turkic-speaking countries, and is located in the spiritual centre of the Turkic world - Turkestan. It holds the distinction of being the first university to receive the status of an international institution of higher education.

    During the official meeting between President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nursultan Nazarbayev and Prime Minister of Turkey Suleyman Demirel on 1st May 1992, the university was granted the status of an "international university".

    On 31st October 1992, the governments of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Republic of Turkey signed an agreement to reorganise the university into Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University.

    In January 2012, the Head of State signed the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ratify the Agreement between the Government of Kazakhstan and the Government of Turkey regarding the operational conditions of Khoja Akhmet Yassawi International Kazakh-Turkish University.

    Ahmed Yasawi University stands as one of the top multidisciplinary universities in Kazakhstan.

    The University's multi-level education system encompasses various stages of learning, including higher basic education (bachelor's degree), internships, master's degrees, residencies, and doctoral studies. Admission to the University is granted based on state and Turkish educational grants or contractual basis.

    The University offers educational programmes in 140 courses across all levels and nine domains of education. Pedagogical Sciences, Arts and Humanities, Social Sciences, Journalism and Information, Business, Management and Law, Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Statistics, Information and Communication Technologies, Engineering, Manufacturing and Construction Industries, Health and Social Security (Medicine), and Services are all available for study at our institution.

    The training at our institution is conducted in Kazakh, Turkish, Russian and English.

    The University comprises 10 faculties, a graduate school of public management and economics, a vocational college, 6 research institutes, and a specialized dissertation council for doctoral dissertations. More than 10,000 students, including interns, masters, residents, doctoral candidates, and preparatory faculty students, have received training at the University.

    Since 1992, the University has been providing medical specialist training through higher and postgraduate education and holds an international "full university" classification.

    Now over 10274 students, interns, undergraduates, doctoral students, and preparatory faculty students are enrolled at the University, with approximately 1351 thousand students (14% of the total) from Turkic-speaking countries of the near and far abroad.

    Over its history, the university has instructed over 76,000 aspiring professionals in advanced levels of higher and postgraduate education, hailing from the surrounding areas and beyond, who have since contributed their skills towards the betterment of their home country.
